Selected properties of dental composites.

چکیده
The traditional parameters used to evaluate dental composites in the laboratory have been working time, polymerization contraction, compressive, tensile, shear, and bond strength, resistance to indentation, water sorption and solubility, leakage, color stability by the 24-hour ultraviolet lamp test, and thermal coefficient of expansion. Other less well documented properties of composites are their modulus of elasticity, abrasive wear, wetting by water or saliva, and staining. It is the purpose of this paper to review the present state of knowledge of this latter set of properties and to attempt to interpret them with respect to the application of dental composite filling materials.

STRENGTH AND FRACTURE TOUGHNESS OF WHISKER REINFORCED DENTAL RESIN-BASED COMPOSITES
Enhancing the properties of dental resin composites is of interest to researchers. The objective of the present investigation was to improve the strength and fracture toughness of dental composites via addition of silicon carbide whiskers and substitution of commonly used filler materials with stabilized zirconia ceramic powder. It was also intended to study the effect of powder- to- whisker ra...

Abstract Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanical properties of flowable dental composites containing the antibacterial compound. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted through experimental design. Compound 3- (2,5-Dimethylfuran-3-yl) -1H-pyrazol-5- (4H)-one were synthesized using Ethyl chloroformate, hydrazine hydrate and 3-acetyl-2,5-dimethylfur...
متن کاملPrincipal component analysis and cluster analysis for the characterization of dental composites.
Various experimental dental materials were characterized using chemometric methods. The main aim of the study was to ascertain which composite materials present the best properties for use in restorative dentistry. Bisphenol-alpha-glycidyl methacrylate-based composites containing hydroxyapatite as a filler and a coupling agent were prepared using a photocuring polymerization procedure. Several ...

Introduction: Resin composites are an important part of restorative treatment in modern dentistry. There are many trademarks available in Iran market and physico-chemical properties of many of these resin composites are not evaluated yet. This study was carried out to evaluate the physico-chemical properties of four available resin composites and also to assess the effect of aging on their prop...
